We're European trained clockmakers with over 40 years experience offering
repairs on most models of modern and antique clocks using old world techniques.
Tick Tock Clock Repairs and Sales, Inc., was just a dream in the head of a young 13 year old boy back in the year 1964, when Jim Denno began his apprenticeship in clock repair. He studied and worked very hard to learn all of the intricacies of the trade and completed his "Old World" training in about ten years. Jim eventually branched out on his own, founding Tick Tock.
In 1976, Jim was married to Vicky, who by her father's admission always had natural, mechanical inclinations. It was perhaps "in the genes" as her Great-Uncle was an "uhrmacher" (clockmaker) in Germany. Learning the trade came quickly for Vicky, although acceptance of a woman clockmaker in a male-dominated trade is still quite a challenge.
Their son, Alex, is the youngest addition to Tick Tock Clock. From an early age, he was just fascinated with clocks, always trying to take apart, drill, hammer, and fix them. Alex discovered he had an innate talent for this work when he took a course at the NAWCC ( National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) one spring and completed his task hours ahead of everyone else! He is currently enrolled in an intense three year clock course with the British Horological Institute. Although his parents are probably tougher teachers, he will face a challenging test every year in London at the Institute. Upon completion of the course, he will have received official accreditation in Horology.
Today Tick Tock Clock has serviced clocks in some of the most prestigious locations in the Chicago area. We have repaired clocks that date as early as the late 1600's as well a new and modern. (Sorry, no oven or car clocks please.) We are truly a "lost art". Everything is done by hand, one-on-one, correctly. All major work is guaranteed and we stand behind it. So, "If it don't Tick Tock to us."
